before the escape begins, a big wall of text will be shown on the screen. it's telling you that from now on, you can't use R, P, F2, alt+F4 or esc. if you somehow manage to load your game from this point, it will delete all your saves. this is why you were told to make backups in the entry prior to this

you must get out of the building before running out of time. on your way you'll find a switch that will freeze the countdown for a decent amount of time, so you'll most definitely want to press that switch

if you fall down the pit or the countdown manages to reach 0, you'll be rewarded with the bad ending
